Listen to the man near
(2009, Cupola Gallery, Iasi, Romania)

Listen to the man near is the theme of an artistic experiment with audience. Those present witnessed over two hours a unique experiment, in which two large paintings were drawn on their own, the artistic act being unrepeatable. Artistically, the works represented characters intuited by us who listen, watch and monitor us. The theme of this project is a social-political one, aimed at phone listening to phones, supervising personal communication, starting from the premise that each of us is a possible offender. Several objects and actions have supported the theme of this project and have suggested how citizens collect laws and writs that restrict the human rights and freedoms. Through this project, we watched the availability and interest of the general public for contemporary art as well as for the social-political themes approached. (Dorin Baba)
